Membership
Individual Rotary clubs belong to Rotary International. Individual members, or Rotarians, belong to a club. The club is where most of Rotarians' meaningful service work is carried out. Clubs can be engaged not only in their communities, but also internationally. What Rotarians get out of Rotary depends largely on what they put into it.
A qualified candidate for Rotary club membership is an adult of good character and good business, professional, or community reputation. The candidate fits one of the following criteria:
• Holds or has held an executive position with discretionary authority in any worthy and recognized business or profession
• Serves or has served as a community leader
• Is a Rotary Foundation alumna (i.e. has taken part in one of Rotary's major educational or humanitarian programs)
In order to become a member of a Rotary club, a person has first to be invited by a member of that club. Potential members are encouraged to attend one or more clubs to see how Rotary works before they commit themsleves to memebrship.
